Task: Select Tools For Event Management
In most cases monitoring events, correlating them and creating records is carried out by tools. The purpose of this task to identify the required set of tools and communicate the same to Service Delivery Environment Supervision Manager.

The Event Manager should identify and engage tool SMEs to finalize the tools/platforms required for executing Event Management process in the engagement. This must include both monitoring platforms, as well as the Service Management toolsets.

In certain Infra engagements, the toolset to be used as “Monitor of Monitors” should be identified as well. All possible interfaces / connection possibilities and requirements for “Monitor of Monitors” should be identified and documented. The Event Manager should also ensure that interfaces with other processes are documented and cross-verified. It should also be ensured that workflows of other streams like Technology Asset And Configuration Management, Change Management and Incident Management are configured to align closely with Event Management.

Monitoring Baselines must be updated as per monitored technology. Correlation rules to be configured on the correlation engine, should be finalized. All tool configuration requirements from Event Management perspective should be documented. This should also include interfaces, measurement and reporting.

The Event Management Tools must be setup in collaboration with the Service Delivery Environment Supervision Manager.
